Barnstable Newcomers Club

The kayaking group meets approximately every two weeks during the June to September summer season. Various locations are chosen, mostly around the upper and mid-cape rivers and estuaries and are generally easy paddles. Most trips last approximately two hours. Scheduling of trips depends upon the tides and will be posted on the club's website. Trips will be cancelled due to inclement weather. As much as possible we try to choose launch sites that do not require beach stickers but it is advisable to have a Barnstable sticker. This is a great way to meet new people and to get out and see some of the natural beauty of the cape. Singles and couples are welcome as well as non-club member guests of members.

The schedule is a living, so to speak, document and may change from time to time as conditions warrant. Some of the times may seem unusual but were necessary in order to have the tides in our favor. I have included some suggestion from the members. If you have a favorite place, not to be missed, to kayak please let me know and I’ll try to see if we can either fit it in or substitute it for one of the scheduled paddles. The schedule will be posted on the Newcomer’s web site by Ron Glantz. I will be sending out an email sometime before each paddle with driving and any other instructions which may be necessary.

Please remember that the paddle is very weather dependent. Wind, rain or the threat of thunder storms will cancel the trip. I will send an email the evening before the trip ONLY IF THE TRIP IS CANCELLED. SO PLEASE MONITOR YOUR EMAIL THE EVENING BEFORE THE TRIP.

Please ensure you have all the necessary personal safety equipment. Bring plenty of water to drink.
