Treasurer’s Report:

  •
    • Tom Broderick presented the final report for year 2009/2010 noting the following:
      • Balance beginning of Fiscal Year:                            $1,921.95
      • Receipts during the year; dues and events              $6,835.92
      • Disbursements During the Year                               (6,165.63)
      • Balance at end of year                                               $2,592.23

It was noted that the Club has a positive increase of about $670.00 plus a prepaid expense of a Holiday Party deposit of $200 for the FY2010/2011.

Additional treasurer reports may be found at our web-site.

As part of the handover of the Treasurer position between outgoing Tom Broderick to Jack Strudwick, it was noted that the Board must vote on the transfer of our banking/checking account to the new officers, Jack Strudwick and Joe McWilliams.  Therefore, upon motion made and duly seconded, it was voted to transfer financial accounts in all forms from the former Treasurer and President to Jack Strudwick and Joe McWilliams.

New Members:  Paul Bushlow reviewed the status of new membership followed by a discussion of how the club has been seeking new membership.  Ron Glantz reported that he has been successful with his Club brochure mailings to new house purchasers listed on the Cape papers.  He also recommended that the Club consider low-cost advertising in magazines such as Primetime.

Club Website:  Ron Glantz discussed the status of the Barnstable Newcomers website including the outage we experienced when the host computers were breached causing massive destruction to thousands of hosted sites.  Ron recommended that Coordinators who wish to post their own messages attend a one-hour course on website maintenance that he will provide.  After several requests, Ron does not currently have any other members volunteering to help with the website.  It was noted that all website editing and posting is being done at NO charge to the Club.  If we were to pay, the costs could far exceed the Club’s income.

E-card IRS Filing:  The Board was advised that the Club has a responsibility to fine annually with the IRS.   Walt Jebens has performed this task in the past and has volunteered to continue this year.  Upon motion duly made and seconded it was voted to accept Walt's offer to do the IRS filing for 2010.

Club Activities; Open slots:  The attendees then directed their discussion to currently open slots for some Club activities.

  •
    • Walking:  Following up on Deb Krau’s suggestion, it was suggested that the Club could participate as a Club group in walks sponsored by other organizations.  A coordinator will be needed.
    • Kayaking:  No new coordinator has been found and interest seems to have waned.
    • Model trains:  Tom Broderick said that activity will resume once his train platform/set is re-established.  The activity will continue.
    • October Pot Luck Supper:  Jack and Kathy Strudwick have again volunteered to lead the Supper and Jack with instructions from Walt Jebens will conduct the Whist event.  Muriel Glantz and the Chases have volunteered to help with the event.
    • Stitchers & Chatters:  No interest currently for leadership
    • Daytime Movie Discussion Group:  T-Bu will be asked by Joe McWilliams whether the Activity will continue.

Club Activities, Currently Staffed:

  •
    • No discussions were held regarding coordinating current activities.  They seem to have leadership and are successful.
    • Dine-Out:  Connie and Jack Champlin requested that the Club shift the event from January to February due to the significant number of events in December.  Upon motion duly made and seconded, the Board approved the shift of the Dine-Out party from January to February.  It was also suggested that it be held early in February.  The Board also confirmed that Dine-Out, or any other event, is not limited to Barnstable to hold dinners.

New Business:   The Acting Secretary was asked to insert in the minutes that the Club had a very successful year in all regards; activities, membership and finances.  Membership has been pleased with the results.

Presidential Turnover:  Joe McWilliams presented Dave Chase with a dining gift certificate and future Presidents pin.  In turn, Dave presented Joe with the Club gavel and banner.

There being no further business to conduct, upon motion made and seconded, it was voted to adjourn.

Respectfully submitted,   David W. Chase

       Acting Secretary

1) WALKING GROUP – Deb Krau did some research and came up with some walking
